Kingshot Gem Spending Guide

Where F2P gems actually go — roulette milestones, VIP timing, build queue rentals, and shop purchases to skip.

Gems are the one F2P currency you cannot farm back quickly after a bad purchase. Speedups and resources refill through events; hero shards from Hero Roulette do not. This guide is the spending half of the F2P loop — pair it with our Free Resources guide for where gems come from, then route almost all of them toward roulette milestones and a small VIP buffer.

Quick takeaway: Bank for 10-pulls only (13,500 gems), activate VIP Time at VIP 4+ during weeks you actually play, and rent the second build queue (1,000 gems / 2 days) only on heavy TC push days. Skip speedups, RSS packs, and shop chests.

Framework

How to budget gems as F2P

A simple split that keeps long-term power ahead of short-term convenience.

Hero Roulette

~70%

Featured-hero shard farm. Milestone chests at spins 5, 15, 35, 70, and 120.

VIP Time

~20%

10,000 gems per 30 days — only when VIP 4+ perks match your play style.

2nd build queue

~10%

1,000 gems for 48 hours. Doubles construction throughput on push windows.

If a purchase does not add permanent account power or move a roulette milestone, treat it as a last resort — not part of your monthly plan.

Principles

Spending rules that hold up

  • Think in events, not days. A full roulette run (~162,000 gems) is a multi-month savings goal — impulse buys reset that clock.
  • 10-pulls beat singles every time. Discounted bundles also make milestone planning cleaner than one-off spins.
  • Skip heroes you do not need. If the featured roulette hero does not fit your server generation or roster plan, let gems stack for the next event.
  • VIP is a tool, not a status bar. Extra march queue unlocks at VIP 6 — below VIP 4, activation is usually gem-negative.
  • Speedups and RSS are event currencies. Save them for matching events (see the Free Resources guide) — buying them with gems doubles the loss.

Hero Roulette (10-pull)13,500 gems★★★★★Primary long-term sink — featured hero shards + milestone chests

Construction Queue Pack (permanent)$2.99 USD★★★★★Low-spender buy — real money, not gems; best one-time ROI
Speedups / resource packsVaries★☆☆☆☆Farmable or event-earned — gems here do not compound
Random gear chests / VIP XPVaries☆☆☆☆☆Poor conversion — burn months of savings for short-term relief

Priority #1

Hero Roulette

The only gem sink that consistently converts savings into roster power.

What you are buying

  • Featured hero shards from the wheel — not a guaranteed full hero per 10-pull
  • Milestone chests that add a large chunk of shards on top of spin RNG
  • A star jump on one target hero per well-funded event, not a maxed roster overnight

Spin economics

  • Single pull: 1,500 gems
  • 10-pull: 13,500 gems (10% cheaper than ten singles)
  • Full milestone path: ~162,000 gems to spin 120 comfortably
  • Free daily spins: factor in after you set the gem budget — they shave the total down

Milestone checkpoints

Total spinsWhat to expect
5First milestone chest
15Early-event checkpoint
35Mid-event — start tracking shard totals
70Late milestone — most of the wheel value is behind you
120Practical event cap — budget ~162,000 gems for a comfortable full run

Plan around the next milestone tier, not a specific hero drop from the wheel. Community-tracked runs land roughly 150–175 shards for a full 120-spin event — enough for a meaningful star upgrade on one hero, not a completed build by itself.

Priority #2–3

VIP Time and the second build queue

VIP Time

10,000 gems buys 30 days of active VIP buffs. Turn it on during weeks you are online daily and already at VIP 4+ — construction and research perks need to match how you actually play. The second march queue arrives at VIP 6; that is often the tipping point where VIP Time pays for itself for active accounts.

Second construction queue

F2P: rent for 1,000 gems / 2 days when you are running multiple long TC or building upgrades and can babysit timers. Low spenders: the permanent Construction Queue Pack ($2.99 USD) is the better move — one real-money purchase, then gems stay on roulette.

By account

Monthly gem plan

Optimized F2P income runs ~20,000–30,000 gems/month — see the Free Resources guide for the full breakdown.

F2P saver

Treat each roulette event as a 6–8 month savings target if you skip unrelated featured heroes. Interrupt savings only for VIP weeks that overlap heavy play or a TC push where the 2-day queue rental saves real calendar time.

Low spender

Permanent build queue first, then the same roulette discipline as F2P. Real money solves builder throughput; gems stay reserved for shards.

Same gems, different outcomes

13,500 on roulette: shards + milestones that still matter next month. 13,500 on speedups: a few days saved, zero lasting power. 13,500 on RSS: a gather weekend you would have done anyway.

Exceptions

When a non-standard spend is fine

These are timing adjustments — not permission to shop randomly.

SituationWhen it appliesVerdict
Gem-scoring eventsAlliance Mobilization, KvK prep, seasonal spend laddersFine if you were buying VIP or speedups anyway — you get event points on top
Arena / Hall of Governors finaleLast day of the season when one tier swing changes rewardsAcceptable once — not as a daily habit
Advanced teleportsEternity's Reach or Swordland Showdown where placement mattersCompetitive accounts only — stockpiling teleports 'just in case' is usually dead gems
Gem-bought shieldsWhen your alliance shop and city bonus are not covering peace windowsFix the alliance gap first — shields are a symptom, not a budget line item
Still a bad deal: extra arena attempts after you have secured your reward tier, VIP-shop convenience packs (e.g. 50 stamina for 500 gems), and chasing VIP 9–12 as F2P when those gems fund another roulette cycle instead.

Avoid these

Gem mistakes we see often

MistakeWhy it costs you
Speedups in the first monthFeels urgent when TC upgrades drag — but the same hours are worth 2–3× more during matching events
Single roulette spins1,500 per pull vs 13,500 for ten — you pay a 10% premium and make milestone math harder
VIP Time below VIP 4Perks are too thin to justify 10,000 gems — wait until buffs actually move your daily loop
Resource packs from the shopMillions of RSS are gatherable in days; hero shards from roulette are not
Gear chests on impulseRNG with no pity planning — Trial Shop and events give gear on a more predictable path
Alliance help packsHelp fills naturally from an active alliance — paying gems here is paying for inactivity
VIP XP bundlesEvent milestones and daily chests earn XP at a far better gem-equivalent rate

Checklist

Before you spend gems

  1. 1

Is this Hero Roulette at 13,500+?

If not, close the shop — singles and filler packs can wait.

  2. 2

Does the featured hero fit your plan?

Skip the event and keep stacking if the answer is no.

  3. 3

VIP Time only at VIP 4+ on active weeks

Buffs need to run while you are actually online using them.

  4. 4

Queue rental only on push days

1,000 gems for 2 days when you will run both builders hard.

  5. 5

Would an event give this for free?

Speedups, RSS, and help almost always would — spend gems elsewhere.
